Celebrating 10 years of positively connecting communities Stories 10 years of Orange Sky: A Decade of Connection A Decade of Connection 10 years of Orange Sky is a milestone, an opportunity to stop and reflect on the incredible impact we’ve been able to achieve, thanks to the unwavering support of our communities. But we’re not only marking a decade of connection – October 10th is also World Homeless Day . It’s a day where we listen and learn about the people in our community who are experiencing homelessness and the many more struggling to make ends meet. This day reminds us of the people that first inspired Orange Sky to begin. What started as a wild idea in 2014 from two 20-year-old mates, has has grown from a single van in Brisbane into a nationwide network of mobile laundry and shower services. Now spanning across 42 Aussie communities, we are powered by the heart and soul of Orange Sky – our passionate volunteers and legendary supporters. We’ve built a community where people from all walks come together to connect over something so simple and powerful – a load of clean clothes, a warm shower and a genuine, non-judgmental chat. Along the way we’ve had many bumps in the road, but we’ve listened, learned, pushed boundaries and grown to support more people in more places than ever before. Over the past decade we have provided 640,215 hours of genuine conversation 4.4 million kg of laundry 52,160 warm showers 83,360 shifts and safe spaces for connection Partnered with 48 communities AU & NZ A growing volunteer community over 4,100 We are incredibly proud and grateful for the impact over the past decade. But we’re not slowing down – more people than ever are doing it tough right now- missing out on the basics like a warm shower or clean clothes – and they’re counting on us to be there. So, we’ll stay driven and committed to turn our listening into actions, amplify our friends’ voices so they continue to feel seen and heard – until one day, hopefully, there’s a world where everyone feels connected and has a place to belong. Let’s keep the shifts running, the washers spinning, warm showers flowing, but above all, let’s keep our communities connecting.
