Facebook Quicklinks Home Our Services Women’s Healing Service Women’s Healing Service The Women’s Healing Service (WHS) provides holistic support to women across all stages of engagement with the criminal justice system, from early intervention to post-release reintegration. We offer case management support for up to 12 months for First Nations women residing in Townsville or Palm Island. Service Streams WHS operates across three distinct streams: 1. Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre Supporting women who are on remand or sentenced.( providing case management and transitioning planning) 2. Townsville Community Women living in the community, including those subject to community-based orders. Women on bail. Women identified as at risk of entering the criminal justice system. 3. Palm Island Community Women living in the community, including those subject to community-based orders. Women on bail. Women identified as at risk of entering the criminal justice system. Referrals Referrals to WHS can be made by any individual or organization seeking support for eligible women. Transport Services WHS provides transport assistance to ensure clients can attend appointments and access necessary services. Programs and Service Linkages The Women’s Healing Service facilitates access to programs and services tailored to individual needs. Examples include: Health Services : Access to doctors and nurses. Counselling : access to ongoing counselling Women’s Yarning Circles : A safe space for sharing, healing, and cultural connection. Shark Cage Program : Empowerment-based workshops. Back to Community : Reintegration support. SPER Hardship Partner : Assisting with State Penalties Enforcement Registry issues. Advocacy : Support in navigating Child safety, Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ), and other services. Court Assistance : Guidance and support with legal matters.
