Stealing began with little things, like chocolates from a store. It was a way to feel in charge of my life that was getting messy. But being around others doing the same, it got worse. Bad decisions came easy.
When my folks split up, it hit hard. Home wasn't home anymore. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd, trying to escape what was happening at home. Each small theft felt like moving away from my problems, but I was actually getting deeper into trouble.
Getting caught and locked up, I thought it was all over. But it turned out to be a good thing. If that hadn't happened, I might have gone down a really bad road. Being inside made me think about where I was heading. I knew I had to change, not just for me, but for those I care about.
In juvi, I met the fullas from ConFit Pathways They didn't just see a bad kid; they saw someone who could do better. They showed me there’s another way to live. It wasn’t just about stopping the bad stuff, but about changing how I think and see the world.
Now, I’ve got plans, simple but big ones for me. Like getting a car and saving for a house. It’s not just about things; it’s about setting up a good future. I want to show that change can happen, that we're not only our mistakes. I started off wrong, but now I’m heading in a good direction. I want a life I can be proud of, more than just the bad choices I made.
By telling my story, I hope others see that lots of us get pushed down tough paths. But with a bit of help and understanding, anyone can turn things around. Everyone should have a chance to make their story better."
