The Spain leg of the international tour begins at Fundación Diagrama HQ in Murcia, where the Spanish youth-justice methodology that produces a 13.6% reoffending rate against Australia's 85% has been running since 1991. We will spend a week with Jesús Teruel and the Diagrama HQ team, then open up the Spain expansion week to additional sites: another Diagrama regional centre, the bertsolari oral poets in the Basque Country, Fundación Tomillo in Madrid, Spanish restorative-justice networks, and the cooperative networks that run through Mondragón and Catalonia. Spain understands duende — the dark, soulful authenticity that makes art feel alive — and the Spanish tradition of storytelling is fierce, embodied, and deeply communal. The Spain expansion candidate list (other Diagrama centres, bertsolari, Fundación Tomillo, women's prison, cooperative networks, restorative justice, Olga from Diagrama) is held in scoping until the Jesús Teruel conversation at Stop 7a opens it up.

The organisations and people we're connecting with in Spain.
Spanish youth-justice foundation operating since 1991. 30+ centres, 30 years, around 13.6% reoffending against Australia's 85%. €5.64 social return per €1 invested per the University of Valencia evaluation. Government-funded, community-run. The international anchor of the methodology and the destination for Stop 7a of the international tour.
A second Diagrama centre to be visited during the Spain expansion week, decided in conversation with Jesús Teruel during the HQ visit. Outside Murcia, ideally in a different region. The point is to see the methodology operating at the ground level, not just at headquarters.
The Basque tradition of bertsolariak — improvised oral poets in 500-year unbroken practice. Cultural-storytelling counterpart to Diagrama's institutional reform. Same country, very different form. Introduction needed via Bertsozale Elkartea, the Basque Bertso Association.
One of the largest civil-society youth organisations in Spain. Long-running. Focus on social inclusion, youth education, and labour-market integration. Adjacent to Diagrama's youth-justice work. Stop 7b candidate.

Every stop brings new stories, new connections. If you're in Spain or know someone who should be part of this, reach out.
